Introduction
Hotel Val Sinestra was built early in the 20th century as a "Kurhaus" (therapeutic centre) close to 6 mineral springs in the Swiss Alps. At 1500 metres above sea level they first built a small version (now called Berghaus Val Sinestra) in 1902-1904. Six years later, as a result of its great success, they built the much larger Kurhaus (now called Hotel Val Sinestra) a little higher up.

The therapeutic activities were closed down in 1972, but their presence is still quite tangible. A lot of things have remained the way they were in the early days. In the pictures here you see: the Berghaus, and higher up the Hotel; the library; the dining hall and the conservatory, which is mostly used for small group activities and performances. When comparing the Berghaus to Hotel, you could say that the Berghaus makes up for its lack of grandeur in atmosphere and warmth.

Along with the magnificently fresh air and unspoiled nature, Val Sinestra offers its guests a relaxed, informal atmosphere and moderate prices. This makes it an ideal place for individuals or single parent families, but we also have plenty of room for large groups or families. The low prices and informal surroundings go hand in hand with the voluntary cooperation of guests with dishwashing and keeping of their rooms throughout their visit.
But most of all, it is a place where you can relax completely.

    What do we offer?
    * Themed weeks, for example: children's-, painting-, flower- and National Park weeks.
    * Day trips: our bus takes you to the most beautiful spots and the best hiking trails.
    * Delicious & healthy food: vegetarian meals are available and you can enjoy our home-baked bread.
    * Billiard, ping pong, a library, rental bikes (mountain bikes).
    * The Stube is our evening café and the restaurant at the Berghaus is open daily.

During the summer the surroundings offer a wealth of hiking possibilities, along cliffs, passes, slopes and valleys. For instance, you could walk to neighbouring villages such as Vnà, Sent or Zuort (Chasa Mengelberg) which offer an attractive combination of space, exercise, coffee and Nusstorte. Scuol can be reached by bus or on foot (7.5 miles). There you will find a beautiful outdoor swimming pool and a fantastic spa, Roman baths, saunas etc. As a sports centre, Scuol offers rafting, kayaking, parasailing and mountain biking.
In winter and early spring, it is an ideal place for skiing, snowboarding and cross country skiing.

    Transportation
Most weeks we drive from and to the Netherlands (Den Bosch & Venlo). Our comfortable coaches usually depart on Sundays at 09.00 am from Den Bosch Central Station, and return Sundays around 6.30 pm to Den Bosch Central Station. Please contact the Hotel for further details.
We have different prices and possibilities for group reservations. Contact us about these personally. We would be very happy to find a suitable arrangement.
Other transport options include coming by aero plane (Zurich or Innsbruck) and/or by train (train services are excellent in Switzerland), or by car (we do not recommend this, especially not in winter). The train station nearest to us is Scuol-Tarasp. From there you can take the so-called Postbus, which drives from Scuol to the Hotel three times a day in summer. In winter we operate our own shuttle service.
